Terms and Conditions

 

Payments: Seats in our classes, camps and workshops are based on availability and do require registration as well as a deposit of 20 percent of the total class fee. This deposit is non-refundable and reserves the class for your child. Your balance is due on the first day of the class, camp or workshop.

CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

1.    Cancellations: Should you need to cancel your class or workshop registration for any reason one week prior to the start date of the class or workshop, the Academy of Design will process a refund within 10 business days.

2.    Make-up Classes: We do not pro-rate classes and offer make-up options for classes missed.  We allow one make up class per 7 week course for all weekday classes. Make up classes must be taken during another sewing class time but we do require advance scheduling so that we open a design station for your child. Make up classes must be taken during the same session as the absence.

3.    Date Changes: Your child's registration can be transferred to another class time or day with one week notice (based on availability). Transfer must be of equal value.

4.    Deposits/payments: cannot be transferred to another student. 

5.    Balance: is due at the start of class. 

6.    Trial: The Academy of Design will not take registrations on a trial basis; we offer one-day seasonal workshops, and you may also make an appointment to visit our studio.

7.  Extended care:  Currently we are unable to offer extended care.  Please drop off your student no more than 5 minutes before classtime. If you are late picking your child up, no problem, he/she can help us clean up the studio!

CAMPS

1.   Cancellation Policy: 

Camps must be paid in full by April 30th.

Cancellations on or before April 30th: Full Refund

Cancellations on May 1- May 31st: 50% Refund

Cancellations June 1st or later: Payment may be Forfeited

We will make every effort to switch camp dates if requested, but availability may be an issue.  

2.    Date Changes: Your child's registration can be transferred to another camp week or day with three weeks notice (based on availability). Transfer must be of equal value.

3.  Cancellation of Multiple Camps

In consideration of other families that wish to participate in our program, we kindly suggest that you sign up ONLY for those camps you plan to attend.  Booking multiple camps, and then cancelling them, denies other families the opportunity to participate.  Families must make other arrangements and are unable to participate later when the camps become available through multiple cancellations.

INJURIES:

Parents, legal guardians of minors, and students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on or around property resulting from any activity conducted by the students before, during, or after class time, including outdoor activity during lunch break. While there is some risk of injury while using the machines, there will be instruction in the safe use of the equipment, and students will never be left without supervision.  Teacher to student ratio is 1:5.

PHOTO RELEASES:
You grant permission to Academy of Design to use photos of your child taken at the Academy of Design studio or at Academy of Design fashion shows in social media marketing, websites, banners, brochures, and other promotional materials for Academy of Design. Names of students will be withheld.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:
Academy of Design has full rights and ownership over all apparel design, accessory design, or any design sewn within the studio or under the supervision of Academy of Design instructors at any location.  Academy of Design may reproduce for commercial sale any student work created through the Academy of Design program.
