Design Thinking: Let’s Get Creative!

At the Academy of Design,
we teach the process of design.

We believe kids are inherently creative and eager to explore new possibilities. Our mission is to enable young designers to brainstorm, generate multiple concepts, commit ideas to paper in a readable form, select materials, understand construction, and then sew a prototype.

Learning is “hands-on”

Each designer chooses his/her unique project. Students learn to sketch, learn about textiles, learn to hand sew and operate sewing machines.

Our fun bright fashion studio is equipped with dress forms for experimenting, spacious work tables, and computerized sewing machines.

The final product is a garment they can wear with pride.

When asked, where did you get that?  They can honestly answer, “I designed and made it myself!”
